Wells Fargo Securities Careers

Why did you choose to work at Wells Fargo Securities (WFS)?
In business school, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in investment banking, and the Wells Fargo team members made an immediate positive impression on me. Their focus was on promoting the corporate culture at Wells, and explaining how I could thrive in a dynamic, supportive and collaborative environment.

Why is WFS a good place to start your career?
Prior to earning my MBA, I was an officer in the U.S. Marines, and I knew that I enjoyed the fast-paced lifestyle where everyone focuses on constant self-improvement to make the team better. Wells Fargo Securities is the perfect place for anyone seeking that type of challenge and a career in banking. The expectations are high, but you are given a wealth of resources to aid in your success.

What do you wish you had known when going through the campus recruiting process?
In b-school, recruiting for investment banking is similar to taking an additional class. The time and energy commitments are huge. My advice would be to pace yourself and think in incremental steps. First, focus on meeting the bankers, next focus on getting a closed list interview, etc. The process may seem tedious and daunting, but it works. Once you get an offer for a summer internship, you will truly value all of the effort you put in.

What do you think makes someone successful at WFS?
Three things: effort, network and resources. You have to put forth the effort, the learning curve is steep and you will be challenged on a daily basis. When you have questions about the ?why? processes are run certain ways, use your network to guide you in the right direction. Once you know the ?why?, leverage the resources of WFS to get things done in the most efficient way, as there is no need to reinvent the wheel.

What do you love about your job?
It is exciting to know that your efforts and those of your team directly affect your clients and the business environment they thrive in. When you see an article in the Wall Street Journal or hear breaking news on a specific deal you are working on, it is an extremely rewarding experience.

What is the best thing about living and working in your city?
Charlotte is a great place to live and work. Whether you are single or married with kids, it is the perfect mix of big city and friendly small town living.

Who has been the most influential person in your WFS career and why?
I have a mentor who I have coffee with on a monthly basis, he has been in banking ?slightly? longer than I. He helps me to keep things in perspective and to maintain a balance between work and family. I can truly say that WFS instills a culture of mentorship that I hope to emulate later in my career.

Where do you see yourself professionally in 3 to 5 years?
I see myself with WFS, but with more responsibility and more experience. WFS offers opportunities for personal growth and to grow the franchise; it will be exciting to be a part of future of the Company.
