Why did you choose to work at Wells Fargo Securities (WFS)?
The people definitely made the difference in my decision to work at Wells Fargo. They were all very driven, focused, and hardworking with a passion for what they did. That coupled with an overall collegial atmosphere was a major selling point for me.
Why is WFS a good place to start your career?
As a junior person at Wells Fargo, you are afforded a lot of responsibility from the very beginning. Though the learning curve is steep, you are given as much as you are capable of taking on. Additionally, your exposure and access to all of your team members, even across different levels of seniority, is important.
What do you wish you had known when going through campus recruiting?
You are constantly being judged from the first time you make contact with a Wells Fargo representative. The environment for jobs has become so competitive that people have to find anything to set applicants and employees apart. It is important to be the best version of yourself at all times, even when you think no one is watching.
What do you love about your job?
The energy, the constant challenges, and the people I work with.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
No day is like another. You never know what to expect of the day, and road blocks pop up from out of nowhere. That said, opportunities sometimes do the same.
What is the best thing about living and working in your city?
Charlotte is such an easy city. In a chaotic job, I love the relative peace and quiet of the city. I also enjoy traveling frequently, and the airport is one of the easiest I've experienced.
Do you participate in any team networks? If so, please describe the network, your involvement, and its value.
I participate in both the African American Employee Network and the WFS Women's Initiative. Both are amazing networks committed to recruiting, developing, and retaining employees in their target demographics. Additionally, both are heavily involved in community events and enrichment. They have provided me with the opportunity to meet others throughout the group and firm, interact with senior leaders in Charlotte internally and externally, and become more involved in activities of the firm and community. I am specifically involved in the recruiting efforts of each group.
